How easy is it to create an automated workflow? Another question we are asked on a regular basis when we are talking to clients about digital transformation and workflow management.
The answer is very simple. With a bit of training, anyone can create a workflow and have it up and running in a matter of hours. Yes, hours. And, apart from your time, it will cost your business £0 every time your create a new workflow. This is because once you have a system in place then every new workflow is included in the cost.
This means you can start with a very simple workflow, say a holiday request form and move to something a bit more complex like a purchase order.
How easy is it to create an automated workflow?
As we have said it is very simple, you start with a blank form and drag and drop fields into the form. The below screenshots come from Kissflow.
Then we start dropping in fields depending on the type of workflow you are trying to create.
Then we start to build in where we are getting the information from. For example, if we are doing a purchase request we can get the number to auto-generate from the system or from a list of purchase order numbers. We can then have a list of departments and user and these can be drop down box and for more complicated formula’s we use excel functions.
The next step is workflow approvals
Then it is a simple case of publishing the workflow and letting users use it.
